We are certainly getting a bit of variety in our wedding venues at the moment. Sunday past saw us starting in Spittal for the wedding of Gemma and Lee. Thereafter off to Doxford Hall, down near Alnwick. Lovely spring wedding in the sunshine. Doxford Hall is a stunning hotel with lovely interiors and grounds – ideal location for a wedding.

Scottish Borders Wedding

Wendy and Josh married yesterday at Dryburgh Abbey and then travelled to Melrose for their lovely reception venue – Harmony House. I always love a Dryburgh Abbey wedding at this time of year as it always has such a lovely display of daffodils – great for photos!

Wedding at Loseley Park

Harry and I have just returned from Surrey where we had gone to photograph Jessica’s and Francois’ wedding. This took place at Loseley Park, a lovely stately home dating back to the early 1500′s. Jessica, who wore a lovely Caroline Castigliano dress, had booked us after seeing some photographs we had taken of another Castigliano dress. A lovely couple and it was a pleasure to travel the distance to photograph them is such lovely surroundings, and also in wonderful March weather.

Chapters Bistro, Gattonside

Had the pleasure recently of working closely with Nicki and Kevin Winsland at Chapters Bistro, Gattonside, near Melrose. We have been updating some photography of the restaurant. This is one of our favourite places to eat in the Scottish Borders. Husband and wife team, Kevin and Nicki have run this restaurant for many years and have built up a reputation for excellent food and service. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers – Galashiels Amateur Operatic Society

Its Opera time in the Scottish Borders once again and all those at G.A.O.S., Producer/Musical Director Jeff Thomson and Choreographer Marie McCullough excelled once again with this years’ show. The Gala Opera production was 7 Brides for 7 Brothers and played over six nights to sell out audiences. It is always a good week and I thoroughly enjoy being involved in several ways during the week, the photographs being one – costumes being another. Well done to all involved in what was a lively, exhausting and superb show.

Thirlestane Castle Wedding

James (with family and friends) came over from New Zealand to marry Barbara, originally from Edinburgh. The Castle provides a stunning backdrop for wedding photography with some equally impressive staterooms inside. Set in the Scottish Borders at Lauder, Thirlestane Castle has its origins in the 13th century. Now in the care of a Charitable Trust, Thirlestane is proving a popular wedding venue for those wishing to marry in an historic setting.

Steven was out with the photo booth at night for the evening reception. The hat with corks and the scottish equivalent were put to good use!!

Photo Booth

Steven headed out last night with the Photo Booth to the first of the christmas party nights being held at The Macdonald Cardrona Hotel. With few photo booths in Scotland there was great interest surrounding it. Groups of workmates and friends took advantage of the service, having fun with the props provided and going away, within a few minutes, with a print in hand.

Mellerstain Wedding

Harry and I always feel it is a privilege to be involved in a couple’s wedding day – this certainly was true of our latest one. Rachel who is Scottish, and Jose who is Argentinian, married at Mellerstain House in the Borders. Their story is certainly one of true love. Rachel walked into an Art Gallery in Argentina while on holiday. She met Jose who spoke no English but managed, through an interpretor, to invite her to view his film, showing in the gallery. At the end she kissed him. A few days later she emailed her mother to say she was not coming home. Two years or so later they married.

Autumn Weddings

Autumn is always a lovely time of year to shoot weddings in the Scottish Borders. The last few weeks we have been lucky enough to photograph a number of weddings at venues like Duns Castle, The Roxburghe and Dryburgh, all of which offering lovely backgrounds and surroundings – regardless of the weather!
